A story about making a film. An old director starts shooting the film about the life story of an aging woman who spends a lonely life at the side of her husband, a workaholic doctor. A meeting with a young man helps Marta relive her youth and feel like a woman again. That story, taking place in 1950, is then intertwined with contemporary scenes showing the dilemmas of the filmmakers and the meeting of the actress playing Marta with an intriguing stranger.
The story based on two novels: "Tatarak" by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz and "Sudden call" by Sandor Marai.
