Documentary film about the five-day visit of Robert Kennedy, brother of the assassinated US president, to Poland in 1964. This visitor from America puts the secret police at highest alert, brings joy to the hearts of numbers Poles submitted to communist inertia, and plays his part in various layoffs and family dramas.

Amerykanin w PRL (An American in Communist Poland) shows the inner workings of a totalitarian regime; the filmmakers managed to recreate Kennedy's visit to Poland based not only on official footage and documents available in the archives of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), but also on witness accounts.
