Poland 2008

A musical set in the early 20th century in western Belarus, in an area that at the time was part of Poland. The plot focuses around the story of a young married couple - a romantic volunteer soldier named Zmicer, and his wife Bronisława, a sentimental woman from a noble family. There are numbers of other protagonists: Belarussians, Poles, Jews, Russians, and Germans. The songs tell the tale of their marital life that gets suddenly interrupted when the Red Army enters.
The film is a story of the preparations for a performance of Narodny albom, featuring amateur actors, students of the Humanist High School in Minsk (delegalized by Lukashenko), and young Poles.
