The film portrays the last heroes of Socialist Realism - ordinary people who in one night achieved stardom. Under the Intecosmos programme implemented in the 1970s, 10 carefully chosen sons of tractor drivers, shepherds and shoemakers are sent into orbit. On their return they are showered with privileges and honours typical of socialism. However, when the "Iron Curtain" falls, everything changes and is revalued.
