The top award at the Planete Doc Review festival, the Millennium Award, was given to The Sound of Insects: Record of a Mummy (Odgłosy robaków - zapiski mumii) by Peter Liechti. The story concerns a hunter in a remote forest who discovers the mummified corpse of an elderly man and a detailed journal which reveals he starved himself to death.
The festival's Magic Hour award, for a film lasting not longer that 70 minutes, went to Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski, authors of the Polish-German documentary Rabbit à la Berlin, about the fate of rabbits living in the death zone adjacent to the Berlin Wall.
The Ecumenical Dialogue Award was given to A Road to Mecca - The Journey of Muhammad Asad by Austrian filmmaker Georg Misch. The Amnesty International Award went to Burma VJ - Reporting From a Closed Country by Anders Ostergaard, which was made from film smuggled to Europe by reporters working undercover.
The Yes-Men Fix the World by Andy Bichlbaum, Mike Bonanno, and Kurt Engfehr was very well received and garnered two prizes: the Audience Award and the Arthouse Cinemas Network Award. The Green Warsaw Award was presented to Age of Stupid by Franny Armstrong.
The festival was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. It is also this year's winner of the Polish Film Institute Award in the category of International Film Event.
