The Council of the Polish Film Institute
The Council is composed of 11 members. It includes representatives of filmmakers, film producers, cinematography trade unions, cinemas, distributors, broadcasters, cable television and digital platform operators.
Council members are appointed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage to three-year terms. The Council establishes the direction of the Institute’s operations and expresses opinions on its annual activity plans and reports, as well as financial reports.
On September 2008 the Minister of Culture and National Heritage appointed a new Council of the Institute. Its members are:

The Department coordinates cooperation between film producers and screenwriters and the Institute. From the formal point of view, it assesses applications for funds for scripts, development, and film production; it supervises agreements concluded between screenwriters, producers and the Institute; and it assesses documents concerning the structures for financing films, co-production agreements, and production schedules. It controls the process of production and the accounting of funds.

The Department takes care of foreign promotion of Polish cinematography, international cooperation, and supporting international co-productions. Its tasks include: submitting Polish films at festivals, cooperation with diplomatic institutions, publication of promotional materials, presenting Poland at international festivals, and supporting international film events with the participation of Polish and foreign filmmakers.

The Department handles the promotion of Polish cinematography, supports cinema study and film discussion clubs, and cooperation with local governments. It supports film distribution and investments aimed at the improvement of cinema infrastructure. It carries out promotional activity – publishes advertising and informative materials, and coordinates events organised by the Institute.

The Press Spokesperson is responsible for contacts with the media, informs about activities of the Institute, runs the web portal www.pisf.pl, organises news conferences and other meetings with the media, and publishes the Public Information Bulletin.
Financial and Accounting Department

The task of the Department is to handle the accounting of the Institute, as well as prepare its financial reports and annual financial plans. It is also responsible for financial maintenance of the Operational Programmes, and maintenance of payments for the Institute resulting from the Act on Cinematography.
Law Department
Solicitor: Albert Stawiszyński
It handles legal issues connected with the Institute, including drawing up agreements, pronouncing opinions on draft legal acts, planning and coordinating legislative activities, and drafting opinions on the needs of the Institute.
Administrative and Economic Department
Head of Department: Włodzimierz Kaflik
It takes care of buying computer equipment, stationery, and all other materials that are needed for the proper functioning of the Institute. It also handles the archives of the Institute.
